The Joy of the Game Foundation was established in
2001 to allow underprivileged youth to participate in
sports programming run by sister Company, Joy of the
Game, Inc. Joy of the Game reaches over 4,000 families
in the Chicagoland area, providing a wide variety of sports
programming including instructional lessons, clinics,
camps, and leagues.
Based on the belief that sports represent many aspects
of life, Joy of the Game focuses on the best that sports
can bring out in each individual. That focus has created
a trusted company and brand that attracts a wide range
of youth athletes of all skill levels from a variety of
cultural and demographic backgrounds.
Its mission is to ensure that all youth, regardless of
background or economic position, can benefi t from
the positive aspects of being a youth athlete.
Its programming instills positive messages and
characteristics in participants through emphasizing
such concepts as setting and achieving goals, teamwork,
determination, leadership, perseverance, dealing positively
with adversity and much more. It creates a positive
atmosphere with strong role models that allow youths
an alternative to violence, gangs and other negative and
self-destructive activities. Most importantly, the program
helps develop skills in participants that allow them to go
to college on scholarship. This creates opportunities that
otherwise would not be available to them.
Its purpose is simple: The Joy of the Game Foundation
is committed to the success of our country’s youth
athletes and wants every youth athlete, not just those from
prosperous families, to be able to succeed. They Joy of the
Game Foundation believes that with the right environment,
encouragement and skills, our youth will become better
individuals and have a strong future to look forward to. |
