Coach Evans is originally from Macon, Georgia where he played for Powerhouse Southwest High School who were State Champions 1975 where Evans received All State and All Conference honors under the leadership of coach Don Richardson, the most successful high school coach in Georgia history (6 State Champs, 2 runners-up totaling 12 state final fours and 1 National Championship(1979). He went on to play for Iowa State University, graduating in 1980 in Child Psychology, and was a three year letterman and Co-Captain in 1978-79 for the Cyclones and was roommates with Coach Ricky Byrdsong who was at Northwestern U. Coach Evans began his coaching for the Arizona Heat AAU(for 5yrs), became head Coach of the Arizona Boys Ranch(4yrs) and led his team to two consecutive regional playoff games from 1983-86. He became the assistant boys varsity coach for Chandler High (AZ) for 4 years and also coached track and tennis. Coach Evans has been a part of the Rising Stars for 5 years and has worked with several Gold, Blue and Black levels from 13U through 17U including camps and show cases . Coach Evans' biggest strength is teaching the game of basketball and mentoring young men into becoming productive citizens. Married to wife Karen for 30 years and they have 4 children DeWayne, Chante', Marcus and Joshua all who have competed in collegiate athletics.
