Coach Figueroa graduated from Waukegan High School in 1993, where he played soccer, baseball and football and has been coaching youth sports for 17 years. In 1995, Coach Figueroa coached the Lake County YMCA's high school basketball team to a league championship in its first year of existence. Figueroa also taught general basketball skills in Waukegan as part of after school programs, youth baseball as well as football. Prior to coming to Joy of the Game in the winter of 2010, Coach Figueroa spent four years coaching youth basketball in Waukegan for the Jr. Bulldogs winning three league championships. Coach Figueroa also coached the first ever 2nd grade Rising Stars team at Joy of the Game in the spring of 2011 as well as the 3rd grade team, qualifying both for nationals. Coach Figueroa also coaches skills classes at Joy of the Game, is available for personal training and is involved with The League for players in grades K-8. Coach Figueroa stresses hard work, sound fundamentals and teamwork but really enjoys being around his teams having fun on the court.
